"The most wickedly plotted medieval mystery novels"
The Times
"Michael Jecks has a way of dipping into the past and giving it immediacy. He writes with such convincing charm that you expect to walk round a corner in Tavistock and meet some of the characters"
Oxford Times
Latest Books
The 14th century is a great time for a novelist to write about, just because it was not a great time to live. I have plenty to say about this subject elsewhere! Sir Baldwin de Furnshill wants only to live a quiet life in Devon with his family, yet recent books have seen him get more and more deeply involved in affairs of state, which have taken him first to London and then to Paris.
But first, a sneak preview of my next book, The Prophecy of Death: there is always a great delight in receiving the first production copies of a new book, but this one's a special one for me - it is going to be book 25 in the series. Sir Baldwin and his friend Bailiff Simon Puttock return from France with an urgent instruction for the King - and fefore long Baldwin and Simon find themselves at the centre of a deadly court intrigue involving the most powerful and ruthless men in the country.
But you will not be able to read The Prophecy of Death until the summer; meanwhile, my latest published book is The Templar, the Queen and Her Lover, published in December 2007; you can use this link to order it from Amazon.
And if you are following the series in paperback, the same date saw the paperback publication of Dispensation of Death.
What's more, the Medieval Murderers' collaboration continues to thrive: our third collaborative novel, House of Shadows was published in June, and our fourth, The Lost Prophecies will follow in June 2008. You can read all about it in the - renovated and expanded - Medieval Murderers section of this web site.
"Jecks succeeds in writing both a book which smells of the Middle Ages and yet is a detective story. No mean feat!"
